Improve My Game Jam 17 Update


With the Improve My Game Jam this week I finally got an excuse to update Mons Badonicus. This is a mostly cosmetic update, the only major mechanic update is that projectiles actually collide with units, meaning they'll actually do damage now!

A few old bugs are still present, the combat is still a janky mess, and there's still plenty of polish needed. I've effectively only put in a few extra days of work into the game after the Historically Accurate jam ended. It'll be a long while before Mons Badonicus approaches anywhere near an ideal state, but the dream of a Total War clone lives on...

Features

  • Improved camera control, vertical movement is now disconnected from camera rotation
  • Minimap now accurately displays unit positions
  • Massive UI overhaul that should hopefully make the game less confusing and a bit less bland
  • Made unit info panel much larger and focused in center of screen so its easier to read
  • Added sound effects when selecting units
  • Added sound effect for toggling unit abilities (e.g Fire At Will, Skirmish Mode)

Fixes

  • Removed isTrigger property from unit colliders, thus enabling projectiles to work
