A downloadable opus for Windows

Welcome to Stalewater!

The Old West was a violent place, but no place was more violent and bloody than Stalewater. This town has been home to outlaws, vagabonds and ne'er-do-wells since the end of the great "Rock Rush" of 1842. The depletion of minerals by greedy prospectors drained any dreams of Stalewater becoming anything more than a forgotten speck on the map.

You play as a young man by the name of Marshall, Marshall McGraw, who finds himself awakened in a jail cell in Stalewater. Not sure of how he arrived in Stalewater, or what he was supposed to be doing, Marshall must now help bring law and order to Stalewater!

Features:

  • Lifelike facial animation!
  • Fully voiced characters & dialogue trees!

  • Dismemberment!
  • Ragdolls!

I regret not making a video playthrough for 2.0 but....

HAHAHAHAHA That was amazing! I love how everyone walks like they have a rash, and the sound effects for the guns were so weak. I did enjoy the walking SFX though. The voice acting was hilariously, brilliantly bad.... the good kinda bad... and I love how everyone slurred saying "Marshaaaaaal". Loved the ending btw, did NOT expect that, as well as the clever way you implemented the jam's modifier! Also THANK YOU FOR ADDING A SAVE FEATURE! Although this time combat felt more balanced so I don't think I really needed it xD

I'm sure your reaction would've been absolutely hilarious to watch, but I'm just happy you finally got back to playing it!

I couldn't not have an exaggerated cowboy waddle in a bad western game, and if the AI gets weird walks then dagnabbit so does the player! Oh and the pistol I think the sound file is literally a toy cap gun lol.

The voice acting was another fun exercise in stupidity, and luckily everyone so far has found it hilarious, so I'm happy you did too!

I'm quite happy with how the ending turned out, its probably the most complicated sequence I've done since the opening for Out Of Order hahaha!

The save system was a big ticket item for a while, and even if it isn't needed anymore with the combat improvements, I still wanted one for future projects. So I figured better to add it in a game with a reasonably constrained scope.

Thanks for playing!

I think I got the WR!

Wow, yeah that's the fastest time I've seen of anyone else so far!

Now I'm curious to see how quickly I'll be able to beat it after the next update...

Thanks for playing!

I was entertained. This was fun to playthrough. I did have to retry after dying to Mustachio but worth it.

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah I plan to make some fixes to make the combat less difficult, and add a save system. I appreciate that you retried to finish though!

Hi! As we discussed on discord I'll be playing Stalewater tomorrow on stream along with several other games from the SBIG jam at 3:30pm EST. I'll be talking about any interesting design decisions as I play, and suggesting improvements if any come to mind. Please feel free to join me live, it'll be extra fun to chat together about your game while playing it :)

Awesome! Sadly I'm not certain if I'll be free tomorrow or not since I may be at work. If I'm not available I'd gladly watch the archived stream afterwards! And if you wanted to ask any questions I'll answer on discord.
