Improve My Game Jam 14


I finally got around to rebuilding the original demo room with updated mechanics and using Realtime CSG this time instead of just stacking cube gameobjects.

Yes this is still just one room, but there's been several refinements of the interaction mechanics, and some seemingly useless mechanics that should hint at greater things to come...

Features

  • Light-based visibility mechanics: A widget on the players phone now indicates how much the player is illuminated by light sources
  • Multiple Visibility Displays: The player can choose how they want the visibility indicator to be displayed on the phone
  • Sound level tracking: Another new widget tracks how loud the players movements are
  • Improved interaction: Doors, drawers, and levers are now much easier to move and can be fully opened and closed. The player's cursor also now locks to the rotation point of interactable objects
  • Optional Film Grain Effect: I wanted to test out toggling post-processing effects
  • More Movement Options: The player can now crouch and lean
  • More Hints: Added hints for accessing inventory
  • More Textures: Almost every object in the demo now has actual textures

Fixes

  • Fixed some small spelling and grammatical errors
  • Fixed bug where note text would be invisible if another note isn't closed on its first page
